Wishesland Selangor was set up on 12.6.2023 by a group of volunteers and cerebral palsy parents in Selangor to unite all the cerebral palsy children and adults under one organisation.

The idea of setting up Wishesland Selangor was brought up by Wishesland Malaysia founder, Mr. Chi Poh Yung to his student, Mdm Nancy Ong in 2022. Mr. Chi hoped that there is a centre like Wishesland Kuching in Selangor providing rehabilitation programme to cerebral palsy children in Selangor. He received many requests from parents in Selangor asking him to set up a Wishesland branch in Selangor as currently there is very limited place for cerebral palsy children in Selangor to get treatment.

After listening to Mr. Chi’s aspiration on what Wishesland can do for cerebral palsy children and success stories of Wishesland children in other branches, Mdm Nancy Ong straight away agreed with Mr. Chi’s invitation to be the founder of Wishesland Selangor.
Despite she has no experience in setting up any NGO in the past and know nothing about cerebral palsy, Mdm Nancy Ong willing to take up this big task to start looking for volunteers and parents with cerebral palsy children, explained to them her intention to set up a centre specifically for cerebral palsy children in Selangor.

With proper guidance and mentoring from Mr. Chi and experiences sharing from the founders of Wishesland Miri and Wishesland Sibu, Mdm Nancy Ong gradually gaining more and more confidence in setting up Wishesland Selangor. Due to her passion to make this project a success, her good friend, Mdm Cheah Bee Lan agreed to join her to make her mission a reality.

Through Mr. Chi’s student connection, we managed to invite Mdm Oh Seak Fern to be our Protem Treasurer. Another Mr. Chi’s student, Ms. Mishel Zahra voluntarily offered herself to help setting up Wishesland Selangor. We are so thankful to her kindness and dedication.
Mr. Chi also invited a social worker who is very passionate in providing personal tuition to cerebral palsy children, Mdm Norhamimah Binti Nazaruddin and her friends, Mdm Nadiah Nabilah Binti Osman and Mdm Noor Yusma Binti Mohd Yusof Akbar to join the Protem Committee of Wishesland Selangor.

A Protem Committee meeting chaired by Mr. Chi was held on 21.5.2023 through zoom to discuss on the preparation of setting up Wishesland Selangor. In the meeting, everyone agreed that we should submit our official application to Registrar of Society the soonest possible so that we can proceed with other necessary arrangements such as sourcing for starting fund, operation venue, recruitment of members and hiring of staff.

On 12.6.2023, our application was approved by Registrar of Society. We are so happy and grateful to Registrar of Society for its speedy action and process as our application was approved in less than 2 weeks after our application was submitted through online.
Immediately after receiving approval from Registrar of Society, an Annual General Meeting has been called on 2.7.2023 so that a new committee member can be selected to run Wishesland Selangor. A meeting between newly elected committee members and Mr. Chi was held on 21.7.2023 at Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur. Among the topics discussed in the meeting were the proposed operation venue, treatment fees, recruitment of members and staff, advertising and promotion campaigns as well as activities and programmes for our centre.
Protem Committee also has arranged for a series of awareness campaign in social media, local newspapers, roadshow and releasing of cerebral palsy related articles in newspapers so that members of the public in Selangor are aware of the existence of Wishesland Selangor. We strongly encouraged families with cerebral palsy children in Selangor to enrol their children with Wishesland Selangor so that their children could get treatment the soonest.

We have strong faith that with strong support from cerebral palsy families, government agencies, corporate bodies and members of the public, Wishesland Selangor will be able to continue to grow and become 2nd home to cerebral palsy children in Selangor.
